Our activities

At Garden House residential care home we know that active bodies and healthy minds are essential to personal wellbeing. Therefore, we go to great lengths to make sure that our elder residents enjoy a regular programme of activities and entertainment.

Senior activities are planned with resident feedback, suggestions and personal interests in mind. Hence, the programme is always varied and, most importantly, fun! Participation is, of course, optional.

Senior activities include exercise classes, yoga, musical entertainment, arts and crafts, flower arranging, quiz afternoons, bingo, memory box creation, Holy Communion, reminiscing poetry sessions…to mention just a few. We also hold regular coffee mornings where we fundraise for charities of our elder residents’ choice. These senior activity sessions not only keep body and mind stimulated but also offer an opportunity to gather with like-minded residents.

Visitors are always welcome to join in!

Monthly outings enable elder residents to get out and about to accessible places of interest. For example, shopping trips, garden centre visits and drives to the coast during the Summer months. Closer to home, residents can take accompanied walks, either by foot or wheelchair. Staff are equally happy to spend one-to-one time either reading books, listening to tapes, or assisting with letter writing.

We publish a monthly newsletter of planned events and senior activities.

Payable Services: Our hairdresser is available on a weekly basis and the chiropodist visits monthly. These are at an additional cost to our residents. Other appointments with outside professionals can also be made as requested.
